In a game of ‘start, bench, cut’, a basketball riff on a classic teenage game, James was asked to pick between three trios of hardwood stars, one of them being some of the faces of the WNBA.
James decided to ‘start’ bird, ‘bench’ Wilson, and ‘cut’ Clark. No other draft hopefuls asked in the video also decided to ‘start’ the now-retired Bird.
Clark has been at the forefront of the rise in popularity of women’s basketball from her time at Iowa, to being the No 1 overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft to the Indiana Fever.
LeBron James’ son was not chosen in the first round of the WNBA Draft with Bronny’s dad’s team selecting former Tennessee star Dalton Knecht at No 17 overall.
