Former Derby County Captain ‘Sick’ Of Setbacks After Pride Park Exit

Latest Derby County news from Derbyshire Live brings you what Tom Lawrence has said as he returned from injury following a spell on the sidelines

Former Derby County captain Tom Lawrence says he was “sick” of being injured and is concentrating on staying fit at Rangers.

The Welshman has endured a nightmare since moving north of the border after quitting Pride Park in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer. But injuries have plagued the ex-Rams captain’s time at Ibrox which has led him to making just 20 appearances since he swapped the East Midlands for Scotland.

Lawrence had been out of action for a lengthy period with an Achilles issue before a short return was interrupted by a muscle injury. But the talented attacker, who made 170 league appearances for Derby and scoring 32 goals, is now back in training after a break in La Manga.

He is now eager to kickstart his Rangers career again with the Scottish giants trying to hunt down Celtic at the top of the table, but they are currently eight points behind Brendan Rodgers’ side with two games in hand.

Speaking about his return, Lawrence said: “It’s all good, he said. “It was good to get out to Spain and get some training done. I’m just looking forward now.

“I’m back training with the team, I’m injury-free at the minute. I’m sick of talking about it, to be honest. I’m sick of being injured, I just want to get fit and hopefully, I can do that. It was a massive couple of months when the gaffer first arrived. I played my part when I was fit so I know what I need to do and I know what to expect.”
