Dan Bardell has told West Ham to sign Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton as a Ben Johnson replacement.
West Ham Football reported on 17 July that the Saints could demand up to £23 million for the former England international.
It is unclear whether the Hammers would pay that much for the 27-year-old but Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes the move would be positive.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said: “Kyle Walker-Peters would be a good replacement and upgrade on Ben Johnson.
“He’s played both sides of a back four as a full-back and is definitely a Premier League player. He’d be a brilliant signing.
“He’d welcome a return back to London being a London boy, so it’s a deal with suits the player and the club for sure.“

Johnson departed the London Stadium in a free transfer to newly promoted Ipswich Town at the end of his contract.
The Hammers did their utmost to keep their academy graduate with Julen Lopetegui offering game-time assurances to the 24-year-old.
The full-back made the decision to leave and now the Spanish head coach will seek out a replacement from the transfer market.
Walker-Peters spent last season earning promotion with Southampton who will likely want to keep hold of their star man beyond the summer.
With Vladimir Koufal still at the club, it remains unclear how many minutes the former Tottenham man could demand if he signed.
Regardless of this, there is no doubt that he would represent a positive signing this summer to add to Lopetegui’s squad
