Two Of Barcelona’s Five Worst Players This Season Were Starters The Previous Season

Here are those Barca players whose recent performances have been below par.

Oriol Romeu

The defensive midfielder’s struggles continue since late September.

Of course, it may have to do with Frenkie de Jong’s injury, but the truth is we can’t rely on him at all in moments like these. He struggles defensively in big games and almost cost us points against Alaves.

Alejandro Balde

The left-back is not a regular starter anymore, and this tells a lot about his form this season. He wasn’t even called up to the Spain squad!

Balde doesn’t give Barca as much as he did last season. His rapid runs down the left side have become a rarity while he also remains error-prone defensively.

Joao Cancelo

The Portuguese has lost the efficiency he had early in the season.

It may seem like Cancelo does a lot on the pitch with his presence in midfield and forward runs, but in reality, all this leads to nothing while he also leaves huge gaps behind.

Andreas Christensen

The Dane got two consecutive starts against Athletic Club and Real Madrid in which he didn’t impress, and he was also at fault for the only conceded goal against Shakhtar Donetsk.

No surprise Inigo Martinez has beaten him in the pecking order. Barca may look better with Christensen in the positional buildup, but the Spaniard gives us much more at this point.

Fermin

The 20-year-old had fantastic outings at home against Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid but didn’t impress much against Athletic Club, Real Sociedad, Alaves and Shakhtar away from home.

In October, there was a moment when he was considered an undisputable starter, but now it’s surely gone with his dip in form and Pedri’s comeback.
