The Cleveland Browns season certainly didn’t end how many fans and players envisioned: a blowout road loss to the Houston Texans during Super Wild Card Weekend. However, the journey to get there, posting a double-digit win season despite an onslaught of injuries, should be remembered. The Browns lost their starting backfield of franchise cornerstone Deshaun Watson and Nick Chubb, got little production from a pair of backup quarterbacks, and suffered injuries to the offensive line.
Yet, a late-season addition of former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco elevated the Browns, winning four of their last six games and earning the top AFC Wild Card spot. Flacco’s emergence has now presented questions about his future in the NFL and, more importantly, a potential return to Cleveland. He appeared on Barstool Sports’ flagship show, Pardon My Take, emphasizing his desire to return to the Browns next fall.

Cleveland Browns QB Joe Flacco: Wants to Return to Club for 2024 Season
Flacco spoke about his time in Cleveland this season: “I love Cleveland. I love the building, the people, everything about it.” Flacco signed with the Browns in late November, with the team struggling with the quarterback duo of P.J. Walker and Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Walker threw just one touchdown to five picks while completing under 50% of his passes. Thompson-Robinson, a rookie, didn’t play much better, throwing only one touchdown against four interceptions.
Flacco continued, “I think it would be a very special place to be if I have the opportunity to go back there.” The Cleveland Browns signed fellow signal-caller Deshaun Watson to a mega contract in 2022. He received a five-year, $230 million, fully guaranteed deal. He posted an elite 104.5 quarterback with the Houston Texans before he arrived in Cleveland. However, that number has dipped to 81.7 while donning the brown, orange, and white.
Joe Flacco: NFL Resurgence
Flacco started five regular season games for the Cleveland Browns, throwing for 13 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He averaged 323.2 passing yards per game. His 90.2 rating easily trumped the other four quarterbacks the Browns used in 2023. However, despite going 34-of-46 for 307 yards in the team’s first-round playoff game, he threw two backbreaking interceptions. Both got returned for touchdowns.
