The Title Race Rangers Vs Celtic Has Been Declared ‘On’ By A Punditry Duo

Philippe Clement’s side narrowed the gap on their arch-rivals in Glasgow at the top of the Premiership to just two points on Friday night.

This occurred following a simple 2-0 win against St Johnstone at Ibrox. For the hosts, Cyriel Dessers and James Tavernier stepped up.

Rangers still boast a game in hand over Celtic, while the teams are set to meet for the second Old Firm derby of the season at Parkhead a week on Saturday.

Hutton and Thomson appeared on Rangers TV as pundits for Wednesday night’s game against Saints, with the former declaring the title race on.

He said: “It is on. It is on. We’re all looking forward to it, with the manager coming in and things turning around so quickly, he’s brought everyone together again – they’re believing and so they should. We can see it within the team that the confidence is building, and it is a great place to be.

“There’s a huge game coming up obviously at the end of the month, which will be interesting, but it’s amazing how things can just turn. From where they were not too long ago to now, the first trophy in the cabinet – I’m feeling real confident.”

Thomson followed up his fellow Gers pundits by stating that the players should remember the Viaplay Cup celebrations when going for the title, as that party would be a whole different ball game.

He added: “It’s hard not to echo what Alan is saying. To get that first trophy was the catalyst to give them the belief, the desire and drive to sample that a bit more.

“John Lundstram said in the programme before that 10,000 fans came back to celebrate the League Cup win… wait until you see what it’s like when you get your hands on the league.”
