Tiger Woods ‘sex ban’ sums up golf legend’s dedication ahead of Masters comeback

The 15-time major winner has only played in one tournament this year, in which he withdrew, but is listed to play at the Masters next weekend as he steps up his comeback

Tiger Woods is taking his Masters preparation so seriously he’s even abstaining from sex.

That’s according to a close friend of Woods who claims the 15-time major champion wants zero distractions ahead of playing in the tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Woods is currently on the road to recovery after undergoing ankle fusion surgery last year.

It is the same ankle injury that forced Woods to withdraw from the Masters 12 months ago. After several months out, the 48-year-old confirmed his return at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.

Woods played all 72 holes at the tournament before taking part at the Genesis Invitational and withdrawing in the second round. His exit this time, however, was down to him suffering the flu.

Not playing a tournament since, it was confirmed Woods would feature at the Masters when they released their players list. While question marks remain surrounding his health and current ability, his return to the major he’s won five times is one he’s taking seriously.

“He’s focused,” a friend of the golfer told the New York Post. “He’s working really hard in the gym. He’s eating right. He’s even eliminated sex. He does that now when he’s preparing: no sex until the tournament is over. He doesn’t want anything to take away his focus.”

When pushed on whether Woods is currently romantically involved with anyone, the friend claimed there’s no one on the scene. Woods was last with Erica Herman, a former waitress, but their six-year relationship ended in 2023.
