Three former Nottingham Forest players played an influential role in convincing Jota Silva to join Nuno Espirito’s side this summer transfer window.
Nottingham Forest made Jota Silva their sixth signing of the summer last week after agreeing a £5.9m deal with Vitoria Guimaraes.
Silva enjoyed a phenomenal season last year netting 15 goals whilst laying on seven assists and as such, he made his debut for the Portugal national team in March.
So, that said, it’s certainly somewhat of a coup for Forest and now it’s emerged that three former players played a key role in convincing him to make the move to the City Ground.
Three former Nottingham Forest players convinced Jota Silva
It has just come to light that prior to joining Nottingham Forest, Jota Silva spoke to former players Cafu, Tiago Silva and Nelson Oliveira, according to The Athletic.
The latter pair played with Silva at Vitoria and put in a glowing recommendation about the East Midlanders.
It’s understood the Portugal international was keen to speak to all three players before deciding if he wanted to advance the deal.
They all responded with a similar message that Forest would be the perfect place to make an impact on the Premier League.
Nuno Espirito Santo was also a big factor
Indeed, Nuno was also a big factor in his decision.
The former Tottenham boss put forward a really convincing pitch and evidently, the settling-in process will be made easier by the fact they’re compatriots. Silva will be taking English lessons to help accelerate that process.
