TADEJ POGACAR’S HISTORY MAKING YEAR COULD HAVE BEEN EVEN BETTER SAYS BRIAN HOLM….

Tadej Pogačar’s 2024 cycling season has been one for the history books, with victories across prestigious races solidifying his reputation as one of the sport’s all-time greats. However, according to veteran cycling manager Brian Holm, Pogačar’s year could have been even more extraordinary. Holm claims that had Pogačar competed in the 2024 Vuelta a España, he would have likely won, further adding to his list of accomplishments.

Pogačar, already a two-time Tour de France champion, has consistently dominated throughout the season. His performance included wins in the Tour of Flanders, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, and a stellar podium finish in the 2024 Tour de France. Many experts have hailed his endurance, versatility, and aggressive riding style, which helped him secure victories in both multi-stage tours and one-day races.

Despite his success, Pogačar opted out of the Vuelta a España, focusing instead on other key races and preserving his energy for the season’s remaining major events, including the Il Lombardia. Holm’s remarks suggest that Pogačar’s absence from the Vuelta was the only element missing from what could have been an even more comprehensive sweep of the cycling calendar.

Still, Pogačar’s remarkable year places him firmly among the sport’s greats, and his ability to compete in such a wide variety of races demonstrates his unmatched talent. Whether or not he would have taken the Vuelta remains a matter of speculation, but what is certain is that his 2024 season will be remembered for its triumphs and near-misses.

As the season draws to a close, all eyes will be on Pogačar as he prepares for the final monument race of the year, Il Lombardia, where he will face top rivals once again.
