Tadej Pogačar Creates History Again with Stunning Victory at Strade Bianche

Tadej Pogačar has once again etched his name into cycling history with a remarkable victory at the 2025 Strade Bianche, securing his third title in this prestigious Italian classic. This triumph places him alongside Swiss legend Fabian Cancellara, both now holding a record three wins in the event.

The 213-kilometer race, renowned for its challenging gravel sectors and rolling Tuscan hills, witnessed Pogačar’s resilience and tactical brilliance. Approximately 50 kilometers from the finish, the Slovenian champion suffered a crash that left him with visible abrasions on his shoulder. Despite this setback, Pogačar swiftly remounted and rejoined the race, showcasing his tenacity.

Prior to the incident, Pogačar had been leading alongside Britain’s Tom Pidcock. The crash momentarily left Pidcock at the front, but in a display of sportsmanship, he eased his pace, allowing Pogačar to catch up. Once reunited, the duo continued to collaborate until the decisive Colle Pinzuto sector. Here, Pogačar launched a powerful attack, distancing Pidcock and soloing to victory with a significant margin.

Pidcock secured second place, finishing 1 minute and 24 seconds behind Pogačar. The podium was completed by Belgian Tim Wellens, Pogačar’s teammate, who crossed the line 2 minutes and 12 seconds after the winner. This one-two finish underscores the dominance of the UAE Team Emirates-XRG in this edition of the Strade Bianche.

Pogačar’s victory is even more commendable considering the absence of other top contenders such as Mathieu van der Poel, Wout van Aert, and Primož Roglič. This scenario allowed Pogačar to dictate the race dynamics, attacking at strategic points and demonstrating his exceptional form ahead of upcoming races like the Milan-San Remo.

In the women’s race, Dutch cyclist Demi Vollering showcased her prowess by clinching victory. She executed a well-timed attack in the final kilometers, securing her second consecutive win in the Strade Bianche Donne. Spain’s Mavi García delivered a strong performance, finishing in fifth place.

The 2025 Strade Bianche will be remembered not only for Pogačar’s historic achievement but also for the resilience and sportsmanship displayed throughout the race. As the cycling season progresses, fans eagerly anticipate more thrilling performances from these elit
