Across Memphis, excitement is building up for the Grizzlies. After the lowly 2023-24 campaign-filled with injuries and struggles-resulted in a 27-55 record, the Ja Morant-led squad seeks a bounce-back season to remind everyone that they are still one of the league’s best teams.
On Wednesday, the NBA unveiled all 30 teams’ preseason schedules. Memphis will play five preseason matches this year, starting on Oct. 7 against the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center. Then, on Oct. 10, they will return home for their first game in the FedEx Forum, where they will face the Charlotte Hornets.
After that, the Grizzlies will hit the road again for back-to-back games, slated for a date with the Chicago Bulls (Oct. 12) and the Indiana Pacers (Oct. 14). The team will close out their preseason with an Oct. 18 matchup against the visiting Miami Heat.

Before these preseason games, Memphis will hold a training camp from Oct. 1 to 3 at the Ensworth School in Nashville. They’ll also host their annual open practice on Oct. 6 at the FedEx Forum, with fans attending free of gate charges.
Most intriguing preseason matchup?
Out of their five preseason matches, the Grizzlies’ marquee showdown will be the Oct. 7 opener against the Mavericks. Memphis and Dallas were tied at two games apiece in their four-game regular season series in 2023-24, but that was a different Grizzlies team.
The preseason opener will mark the first time Grizzlies fans see the comeback kid Ja Morant, the much-improved Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr., and the rookie Zach Edey share the floor together. It will also be a first look at the reigning Western Conference champions’ new Big 3: Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the newly acquired Klay Thompson.
