Super League clubs have been alerted to the availability of Melbourne Storm forward Tristan Powell. Rugby League Live can reveal that the 23-year-old has been offered to clubs ahead of the 2025 campaign, with the forward keen to pursue first-team opportunities in the competition.
Highly-rated in Australia, Powell made his NRL debut for the Storm last month but he qualifies for a move to the UK following his performances in the Queensland Cup. He has been a regular for Brisbane Tigers for the last two seasons, where he has made quite the impression.
A prop, Powell has established himself as a starting forward with the Tigers but is now keen to play first-grade and has set his sights on a stint in Super League to make that happen. A number of clubs are understood to be considering a move for Powell as they look to enhance their squad for 2025.
Historically, a number of young overseas forwards have come to the competition and made an impression in Super League. The likes of Luke Yates, Grant Millington and Chris Satae have come to the competition early in their careers and established themselves as being among the leading forwards in the Northern Hemisphere.
Powell is now keen to follow a similar path, though there aren’t many clubs left with a quota spot at their disposal next year
