“There’s nothing wrong with not being Novak Djokovic, not everyone can be world number one. In our case I think Iga Swiatek is a sensational tennis player, it’s great to be number one but I would never want that job. There are some people who aspire to be, others who don’t. That’s what makes tennis such a unique sport. Of course tennis also means traveling for many weeks, in everyday life it’s very hectic, which can make everything complicated and stressful. Every week there’s a lot of adversity that people don’t see, but obviously in what other job do you get paid to wear your tennis dress and play a match broadcast live on television?” revealed the American, who has been predicted on several occasions as a candidate for the WTA throne but who has not gone that far – as she herself underlined – to achieve the goal.
