Sevilla have gotten off to an abysmal start to their La Liga campaign. Four games in and they have only managed to achieve two away draws, losing twice at home.
Despite worrying signs that not much has changed at the Andalucian club, midfielder Saúl Ñiguez has spoken out against the criticism that the club has received.
Speaking on his personal X account, Saúl said, “I understand the criticism, but it’s not the best time, let’s all stick together and we’ll change this situation, I’m sure. I have confidence in the work the team is doing. It’s only a matter of time.”
This isn’t something new for Sevilla, as their poor 14th-placed finish last season often had players reacting in the same way to poor results before managers then take the hit and lose their jobs.
It will be interesting to see how the boardroom staff at the club will react this time around if results don’t start going their way. Will they continue with the revolving door tactic? Or will they give García Pimienta a chance to enact his vision?
Either way, the club will be looking to turn things around after the international break, when they will head to a Getafe side that has also struggled, in their best chance to get a win so far at this early stage.
Perhaps the international break will allow some of the newer players to settle in and make more of an impact than they have done so far at the same time.
