Seamus Coleman names the ‘very good’ Everton player who still stood out despite Bournemouth collapse…

Everton may have lost Saturday’s match, but now the dust has settled, it’s worth noting just how impressive they actually were for 86 minutes of the game. They completely dominated, creating chance after chance and deservedly soaring into a 2-0 lead. Meanwhile, their opponents were nowhere to be seen.

And, it could have been much more too, with a few corners coming close and Seamus Coleman forging a golden opportunity for himself which was saved. It’s arguably this stellar showing which makes the end result, a 3-2 defeat, much harder to take. However, the Republic of Ireland international has now emerged to reaffirm the belief that they are heading in the right direction.

Whether it be a hefty loss or an almighty collapse, a day or two later, like clockwork, someone is summoned to apologise and promise the club will do better. An unforgiving task, the club captain is unsurprisingly the man often selected, and on this occasion, he took a different route

We need to have a look at some of the boys’ play. Although Iliman [Ndiaye] was excellent, ups and downs are a common occurrence in the Premier League, and this is undoubtedly a down. While Coleman tried to find the good in his teammates, Danny Murphy criticized Dwight McNeil for not giving it his all against Bournemouth.

The game against Bournemouth was stolen by Iliman Ndiaye. Iliman Ndiaye was utterly captivating throughout his performance on Saturday, so Coleman is right to single him out for praise. After a fantastic time at Sheffield United, there was a lot of excitement when the Senegal international joined Everton, and many people overlooked his most recent problems at Marseille. Rather, his transfer brought about nothing but goodwill, which was gradually validated by brief appearances against AS Roma in the preseason and Doncaster Rovers in the cup. Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye during the August 31, 2024, Premier League game between Everton FC and AFC Bournemouth at Goodison Park in Liverpool, England.
