Scorpions to Record 60th‑Anniversary Homecoming Concert in Hanover for New Live Album
German rock legends Scorpions are marking a major milestone this weekend by celebrating their 60th anniversary in a spectacular hometurf concert—set to be captured live for a forthcoming album.
The milestone performance takes place on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Hannover’s Heinz von Heiden Arena (formerly ZAG-Arena). With roots dating back to 1965 in this very city, the band returns home under the poignant banner “Coming Home” for what has swiftly become a sold‑out spectacle. Organizers report that all 45,000 tickets vanished in mere moments .
An even bigger announcement: the concert will be officially recorded and later released as a live album, aptly titled “Coming Home Live.” Scheduled to hit shelves on November 14, 2025, the album will be available across formats, including CD, vinyl (standard black and special marbled editions), and in deluxe bundles featuring collectible scorpion figures and band merch .
Adding to the allure, special guests Alice Cooper and Judas Priest will open the night, setting the stage for Scorpions to deliver their greatest hits and potentially debut a few surprises . Universal Music, under its Spinefarm and Vertigo imprints, is helming the album’s release .
Founding guitarist Rudolf Schenker reflected on the band’s humble beginnings: “Back then, we just wanted to be part of the global rock family—that was our dream.” Lead vocalist Klaus Meine emphasized the importance of live performance: “It’s the most important element… a challenge to win over fans” . Guitarist Matthias Jabs echoed the sentiment, saying he prefers focusing “on what we’re doing now or will do,” and affirmed tonight’s homecoming show is “the most important thing right now” .
This album arrives during a vibrant period for Scorpions: they recently kicked off their anniversary tour in Latin America, are set for a summer walk in Monte Carlo, and will host a five‑night residency in Las Vegas . Additionally, in September they’ll wrap up their “From the First Sting” career-spanning compilation and conclude the tour in Moldova and Romania .
“Coming Home Live” promises to be a testament to six decades of rock heritage—capturing the band in full flight on the stage where it all began.
