Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson tragically lost his life in a car accident early Saturday morning in Maryland. The 24-year-old athlete was involved in a multi-vehicle collision on Route 4 in Upper Marlboro shortly after 3 a.m. Jackson, along with two other occupants—24-year-old Anthony Lytton and 23-year-old Isaiah Hazel—were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities suspect that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
Jackson, a native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, had a notable collegiate football career, playing for both the University of Alabama and the University of Oregon. His talent and dedication on the field led to his selection by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the NFL Draft in April, as the 108th overall pick. The Vikings had high hopes for Jackson’s future with the team, recognizing his potential to make significant contributions on and off the field.
