Ryan Kent has had a nightmare six months after joining Fenerbahce in the summer.
Ryan Kent’s Fenerbahce nightmare continues to drag on after a shambolic spell in Turkey – and the former Rangers winger could be set to take his current club to COURT, according to reports.
Kent spent five years at Rangers where he largely impressed in Glasgow, though a torrid spell last season saw the trickster leave Ibrox in what was dubbed a new era for the club given the departures of himself, Alfredo Morelos and Allan McGregor. Floods of offers flew in for his services, and Kent eventually chose Fenerbahce as his next move – but it’s not gone to plan.
Kent has featured in just 633 minutes in all competitions this season, nabbing just one goals in that time – a fairly insignificant strike in a 5-0 Conference League outing against Moldovan minnows Zimbru Chisinau back in July. Having been left out of Fener’s team since November, Kent turned down a move to Lazio on deadline day to add to the confusion – and now, reports in Turkey have said his spell could turn to court cases.
According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Kent is set to take his argument over unpaid wages and unfair treatment to FIFA and the Court of Arbritation. Kent will pose two arguments to the global governing body, one involving his wages and another after being frozen out of the team.
The report states that whilst Fenerbahce began preparations for a title run by adding a whole host of new players in the summer – in which they have proven successful by leading the division – Kent caused a stir throughout the trip to Antalyaspor, where Fener won 2-0.
After snubbing the move to Italy, manager Ismail Kartal didn’t include the former Gers star in his squad for the game after he travelled with the team.
As a result, the news was the straw that broke the camel’s back for the Englishman after his torrid spell in Turkey, who said he would submit a complaint from the club after being frozen out despite travelling due to his transfer saga – alongside the claim of unpaid wages.
FIFA rules state that complaints can only be submitted if a player hasn’t been paid wages for 91 consecutive days, which would harp back to November 5. Should Kent provide evidence of no payment to that date, developments would be expected in this case.
