Newcastle United have a few players garnering attention this summer but they’re mostly players we’d have no intention of selling such as Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak.
One name that does keep popping up with links to a move away, however, is another player that fans won’t want to see go, but the club may yet cash in on.
Despite having never even kicked a ball for Newcastle, even in training, Yankuba Minteh is a hot property this summer after already being linked with a move back to Feyenoord as well as a move to LIverpool.
Now, Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca DiMarizio is suggesting that Roma are interested in Minteh and that the Magpies have set a €30million (£25million) asking price for the 19-year-old.
DiMarzio also claims that Everton and Marseille are both keen and indeed are ‘further along’ in talks for the Gambia international.

FFP could be the deciding factor in Minteh’s future
It all comes down to how much Newcastle’s backs are up against the wall in terms of the dreaded FFP/PSR as to whether they would entertain bids for a player who is looking to be a very promising player.
Having only signed last year for around £6million (different sources quote between £5-£7million) selling him on even for £25million would be great business from a financial perspective, nobody can argue that.
However, seeing how quickly he developed last season at Feyenoord from a pacey winger with what the Feyenoord CEO called ‘incredible speed’ with little end product to one of Arne Slot’s first names on the team sheet, we can’t help but wonder if letting him go before he’s even had a shot at the Premier League would be a huge mistake.
