Wolverhampton Wanderers have joined Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Porto winger Galeno, as they look to find a replacement for Chelsea-bound Pedro Neto.

Galeno has a £51 million release clause and has scored 31 goals in his last two seasons for Porto.

Wolves may consider Ajax’s Carlos Forbs as an alternative to Galeno.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have joined Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Porto winger Galeno, as they look to find a replacement for Chelsea-bound Pedro Neto.

Chelsea agreed a £54 million deal with Wolves for Neto, with the player’s medical scheduled ahead of the move.

Despite injury issues, Neto has been one of Wolves’ most important players, scoring twice and registering nine assists in 18 Premier League starts last season.

Galeno has been identified as a potential successor to Neto, with talks being held with Porto.

Galeno joined Porto in 2016, initially struggled, then established himself at Braga, and returned to Porto in a €9 million deal.

He has scored 31 goals across his last two seasons for Porto and is attracting Premier League interest.

Wolves face competition from Forest, who had a deal for Ramon Sosa lined up, but has stalled.

Galeno’s release clause is £51 million, and Wolves are likely to meet the price tag once Neto’s switch to Chelsea is complete.

A cheaper alternative could be Ajax’s Carlos Forbs, who Wolves are reportedly eyeing.
