Report: Winger sold by Forest for £8m gets new contract but he will never play for his club again

There is a curious case emerging for Arvin Appiah following his departure from Nottingham Forest.

It’s fair to say that it’s been a rocky road for the youngster since he departed the City Ground as a teenager.

A fee of £8 million was received by Forest for the services of Appiah at a time when he’d hardly played for the first-team.

Spanish outfit Almeria were the club who chose to land him but he’s been out on loan on four occasions.

Appiah is fourth on the list of Almeria’s record signings and now they’re lumbered with him somewhat.

Some news has now come to light over a curious case involving Forest academy graduate Appiah.

Arvin Appiah in middle of contract dispute

It does feel as though this is a bit of a strange one for the 23-year-old and he must be wondering where his career went wrong.

The tricky winger managed to win a move to Almeria despite making just eight appearances for the Reds.

During his time with Almeria, he’s played 62 times but he could now have made his last appearance, despite signing a new contract.

Diario de Almeria claims that the club don’t want Appiah and are now trying to offload him.

They had to extend his contract in order to spread some of the player’s salary and now they could be lumbered with Appiah.

It’s claimed in the report that he will be allowed to take part in pre-season with Almeria but they’re now desperate to let him go.

Forest hit the jackpot with Appiah

Although it’s not nice to see an academy graduate struggling anywhere, Forest did well to take £8 million for Appiah.

He’s not lived up to his initial hype and has spent time on loan with Lugo, Tenerife, Malaga and Rotherham.

He’s only scored six goals and claimed one assists in the five years since he left Forest and the club did well to cash in.

If an offer is on the table for him to leave Almeria this summer, he should grasp it with both hands.

At 23, he has the time on his side to showcase to a club that he does have some potential.

Forest saw flashes of what Appiah was capable of and with the right manager, he could still kick on and rescue his career from here.
