Rangers Transfer News: Ridvan Yilmaz Formal Offer Update Emerges Amid Exit Speculation

Hellas Verona are poised to make a formal offer as they look to sign Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz, per Scottish Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported in its print edition (13 January, Page 109) that the initial loan deal may turn into an obligation to buy if the Italian side avoid relegation.

The Turkey international has failed to live up to expectations at Ibrox and stake his claim to be the long-term successor to Borna Barisic.

Act quickly

Yilmaz’s tenure at Rangers has fallen short of expectations, justifying the club’s willingness to part ways.

Signed for a substantial fee of £3.4million from Besiktas in 2022, with it potentially rising to £5.5 million, the 22-year-old Turkish international failed to assert himself as the anticipated long-term successor to Barisic.

The Turk struggled to apply sufficient pressure on Barisic for the left-back position, contributing to his underwhelming stint at Ibrox.

As the Croatian’s contract expires in the summer, the need to address the left-back position is two-fold as Yilmaz’s departure is warranted to reshape the squad and allow him a fresh start elsewhere.

Also, with Barisic’s uncertain future, Rangers face a crucial decision to either secure his contract extension or find a suitable replacement.

The upcoming two weeks are pivotal for Rangers to swiftly address these left-back concerns, ensuring squad stability and defensive strength as they navigate the rest of the season.
