Kemar Roofe is unlikely to receive a new Rangers contract before the conclusion of the season, according to Football Insider sources.
The striker, 31, is increasingly likely to depart Ibrox at the end of May when his current deal expires.
Roofe is believed to be one of the biggest earners at Rangers but has struggled with injuries since his arrival from Anderlecht in 2020.
The forward is currently out with an injury he picked up in December and Philippe Clement has yet to update fans on his potential return to action.
A well-placed source has now told Football Insider that the Jamaica international’s persistent injuries are behind the decision not to offer him a new deal.
Kemar Roofe has been riddled by injuries at Rangers
Roofe has made just 15 appearances across all competitions this term, notching two goals and one assist.
The ex-Leeds star, who won the Scottish Premiership under Steven Gerrard in the 2020-21 campaign, has notched 38 goals in 93 total games for Rangers.
He cost the Glasgow giants a fee of around £4.5million four years ago.
Cyril Dessers and Fabio Silva are currently the first-choice strikers at Ibrox with Clement’s side hitting their best form of the 2023-24 campaign.
Also set to leave Rangers in May is Borna Barisic, with Football Insider revealing on Wednesday (14 February) that he is now looking to take advantage of his free-agent status in the off-season.
The Ibrox club are challenging Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title – and sit second only on goals scored.
