Rangers are closing in on the signing of Mohamed Diomande from Danish side Nordsjaelland.
The 22-year-old midfielder is set to become the Ibrox club’s second January transfer following the loan move of Fabio Silva from Wolves.
The Ivory Coast under-21 international, who will be the first permanent signing of the month, will bolster Philippe Clement’s options in the middle of the park for the remainder of the season if the move is finalised.
He has made 22 appearances for the Danish Superliga side in all competitions this season.
Rangers kept their domestic treble dreams alive with a 4-1 Scottish Cup win over Dumbarton on Saturday.
They will find out their fifth-round opponents when the draw takes place later on Sunday as they look to add to the League Cup trophy already won at the end of last year.
Following a two-week winter break they will return to league action with a game against Hibs at Easter Road on Wednesday.
They currently sit eight points behind city-rivals Celtic at the top of the Premiership, but have two games in hand.
A win over Hibs on Wednesday will reduce the deficit to five and set up a title run-in.
