Pundit Issues Rangers Transfer Offer Verdict As Hearts Offer Bumper Deal To Lawrence Shankland

Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland may find it hard to turn down the offer from Rangers as he supports them, believes Tam McManus.

A contract extension at Tynecastle is on the table for the Scotland international who is being linked with a move to Ibrox in January.

The Scottish Sun reported on 19 January that the club may have to up the ante in order to get the 28-year-old to forget about the Gers links and put pen to paper on a new deal.

Speaking on the PLZ Football Show, McManus said at 18:24: “Hearts are supposedly pushing the boat right out with the biggest offer in a decade. I think it’s going to be £10k plus per week he’s getting offered at Hearts.

“So (it’s down to) whether he’s quite happy to see his career out with Hearts. I think the Hearts supporters would be delighted with that but I think if Rangers just come in and put a bid in, I think it would be a difficult one for him to turn down.

“He’s a Rangers supporter and I think that would be difficult for him to turn down if Rangers come in and his head could get turned.”

Delays

The delay in Rangers making an offer for Hearts striker Shankland suggests that he may not be the club’s top priority in the January transfer window.

Gers may be exploring alternative options or assessing other potential signings before committing to a move for Shankland.

This could be influenced by various factors, such as the team’s current needs, tactical considerations, or budget constraints.

The 28-year-old’s wage demands could also be a factor causing hesitation from Rangers as if expectations are perceived as high, other avenues might be considered to reinforce their squad within budgetary constraints.

As the transfer window deadline approaches in less than two weeks, Rangers will eventually need to make a decision.

The delay may indicate a thorough evaluation of available options and negotiation processes.

However, Philippe Clement will have his desired targets in mind and it’s down to whether or not the club have the pull to give him what he wants.

In other Rangers news, clubs have now made contact with Gers as another first-team player appears set to be leaving the club soon.
