Michigan and Washington will face off in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday in Houston, but for the other 131 FBS teams, the 2024 season has begun.
Big changes are looming in the ACC, and bigger names are on the move. Last week, Florida State began the process of registering as a program with the Transfer Portal. They’ve also been busy in the portal, acquiring some talented players to bolster their roster. However, Syracuse and North Carolina State are two other ACC schools that have done the most damage in the portal.
Syracuse fired longtime head coach Dino Babers and hired former Georgia cornerback coach Fran Brown to lead the program. Brown wasted no time recruiting by adding Ohio State starting quarterback Kyle McCord, Texas A&M edge rusher Fadil Diggs, and Georgia receiver Jackson Meeks.
N.C. State, which recently finished 9-4 (6-2 ACC), has also been busy. The Wolfpack signed running back Jordan Waters from conference rival Duke. They also added Justin Joly, the No. 2 TE prospect in the portal, from UConn. And perhaps their biggest addition came from the Carolinas, where they were able to sign All-Sun Belt quarterback Grayson McCall from Coastal Carolina.
