Pittsburgh Panthers Football Team Hit by Transfer Portal Exodus
The University of Pittsburgh’s football team, the Pitt Panthers, are reeling after multiple players announced their decision to leave the program via the transfer portal. In a shocking turn of events, at least seven players have opted to depart, leaving fans and coaches scrambling to rebuild the team.
Among those leaving are key starters like Bangally Kamara, a two-year starter at outside linebacker, and Solomon DeShields, a promising linebacker. Christian Veilleux, a quarterback who saw significant playing time last season, has also entered the transfer portal.
The exodus doesn’t stop there, as several other players, including defensive end Nate Temple, defensive tackle Deandre Jules, linebacker Aydin Henningham, and safeties Stephon Hall and Buddy Mack, have also announced their intention to transfer.
The mass departure has left Pitt’s coaching staff reeling, as they scramble to fill the void left by the departing players. The team’s 3-9 record last season likely contributed to the players’ decisions, as they seek new opportunities at other programs.
While the transfer portal has become a staple of college football, the sheer number of departures from Pitt has raised eyebrows. As the Panthers look to rebuild and rebound from a disappointing season, they’ll need to act quickly to fill the gaps left by their departing players. Only time will tell if Pitt can recover from this exodus and return to prominence in the ACC.
