The latest encounter in what might be a pivotal run of games for the Ibrox side comes against Ross County.
Philippe Clement is urging the Rangers support to be at its loudest as his team tries to break the ‘wall’ Ross County will erect in front of them at Ibrox tonight.
The Belgian remains unbeaten in 16 games since taking over from Michael Beale in October and is targeting three wins before the winter break. Rangers go to Parkhead on Saturday, with no fans in their corner, for what will be a massive test but either side of the trip across the city are home games against County and Kilmarnock and Clement wants Ibrox shaking to its foundations. He said: “I expect it is going to be a hard game against Ross County.
“Unluckily for us, Ross County ’s game was cancelled so they have a week to prepare and to be totally fresh and it is going to be again breaking the wall and seeing you are not taken in transitions and crosses and set-pieces. So we need to be on our toes again. I was really happy with our fans against Motherwell on Sunday. They gave a lot of energy to the players, to hear them singing, to hear them shouting positively during the game, to give real support and I expect that at Ibrox.
“Three massive games before the winter break and I expect everybody to be 200 per cent behind the team to give this extra energy.”
Rangers have a mounting injury list that will stretch to double figures if Connor Goldson, who limped off late in the Fir Park victory, doesn’t make it. But Clement has been delighted with the manner in which the players have come in – as Dujon Sterling and Kieran Dowell have done recently – and made a massive impact.
He added: “This is what I demand. If you don’t do that you don’t have a place in a club like Rangers. It is simple.
“It is important that we have a few leader-types in the dressing room who are on top of things to keep everything together in the difficult moments and they have done and that gives the hunger for more in the next couple of months.”
