But Gers have been boosted by the returns of Tom Lawrence and Ryan Jack
Philippe Clement has confirmed Kieran Dowell faces a long spell on the sidelines after a freak training ground injury in Spain.
Dowell, 26, has had to be patient for his chance at Rangers following his summer move from Norwich City but made an impact in Clement’s team last month – scoring in the 2-0 win over Motherwell. However, the playmaker has been dealt a huge setback after suffering a cruel injury during the club’s mid-season training camp in La Manga. And speaking ahead of tonight’s friendly with FC Copenhagen, boss Clement revealed Dowell won’t be back any time soon.
He told Rangers TV: “Kieran was really unlucky that he stuck in the grass on a bad pitch in La Manga. So he’ll be out quite a long time normally. We need to make a good assessment around that. But he won’t be back in the next couple of weeks, that’s for sure.”
Dujon Sterling also picked up a knock last week and has been left out of tonight’s squad, but Clement eased fears over the versatile defender’s injury, adding: “Dujon just got a knock in a duel and he was not fit for today, but I expect him back at the end of the week.”
Meanwhile injury-plagued duo Ryan Jack and Tom Lawrence have returned to the fold after being named on the bench for tonight’s friendly match at Ibrox. Check out the staring XI here.
