Philippe Clement outlines unique Rangers habit as Ibrox boss keeps an eye on opponents

The Belgian coach was asked about his pre-match preparation.

During the matchday warm-up, most managers choose to withdraw to their offices. It’s not Philippe Clement.

The Rangers manager has frequently been seen looking over the players as Alex Rae and his coaching staff put the championship contenders through their paces before kickoff. As Clement puts it, the Belgian prefers to soak up the pre-match atmosphere and go over his players before giving his final team talk. That was the case again tonight when Gers played Ross County at Ibrox in their attempt to overtake Celtic at the top of the table.

Speaking ahead of the Premiership encounter, Clement was asked about his unusual routine. He told BBC Scotland: “No, it’s for myself. I want to see everything. I want to control the controllable.

“I want to see how the players warm up and how the mood is of the players on the bench. That’s also important for me to see if they have the right attitude or not. I also want to see the opposition team so I have a lot of things to see in that moment.
