La Liga outfit Villarreal have on Tuesday announced a fresh addition to the club’s goalkeeper ranks for the season ahead.
The player set to line out for Marcelino’s troops moving forward? Luiz Júnior.
The name of shot-stopper Luiz has taken its place front and centre in the media chatter surrounding Villarreal for several days now.
This comes after word was forthcoming that, amid their ongoing search for reinforcements between the posts, the highly-regarded 23-year-old had been identified as a leading target.
Negotiations, in turn, were swiftly kicked into gear with Portuguese outfit Famalicão, over the terms of a deal to bring Luiz to La Cerámica as soon as possible.
And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, such talks have officially borne fruit.
As per a statement across Villarreal’s website and social media platforms
Villarreal CF and FC Famalicao have reached a transfer agreement for Luiz Júnior, who will be linked to the yellow club for the next six seasons, until June 2030.’
