Nuno Espirito Santo, Nottingham Forest’s head coach, thinks the club’s ambitious owner is a good thing.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo believes it is good for Nottingham Forest to have an ambitious owner, even if it takes time for Evangelos Marinakis’ dreams to be realised.

Marinakis rarely gives media interviews, but he has spoken twice in the past week about his aims for the Reds. And his words left nobody in any doubt over how eager he is for the club to progress.

The Greek pledged “great things” for Forest in the years to come and spoke of his “big dreams” for the club. It comes with a third successive season in the Premier League effectively secured, but Nuno says building on that platform will not necessarily happen overnight.

“We all know the ambition of the ownership, to make Forest a greater club and a bigger club,” the Portuguese said. “But we have to realise that it is step by step. It takes time. But it is good to have ambition and desire to improve.”

The Reds head to Burnley for their final game of the season this afternoon. It would take a remarkable sequence of events for them not to be in the top-flight next term. They are three points ahead of 18th-placed Luton Town and have a significantly better goal difference.

Nuno has been keen to guard against complacency in the run-up to the match, though. And he has been reluctant to entertain talk of looking any further than the clash at Turf Moor. Questions about the season as a whole and where the Reds go from here were politely rebuffed in the Portuguese’s final press conference of the season on Friday.
