In January, Nottingham Forest were looking for a new goalkeeper, and Stade Brestois’ Marco Bizot was among the options mentioned.
The 32-year-old has since confirmed that the Reds pursued him but were unsuccessful.
Speaking to Voetbal International and quoted by Voetbal Primeur, Bizot claimed that by the time Nottingham Forest attempted to sign him, it was too late.
“That was very serious. Nottingham has made an official offer to Brest. If the club had accepted it, I would now be in England, but the offer was resolutely rejected. Which I thought was very logical. It was all very last-minute.
“There will be few clubs that want to lose their first goalkeeper a few hours before the transfer market closes. The attitude of the club management also showed a lot of confidence and appreciation. We will see what will happen in the summer.”
Now in case other clubs are still interested in signing Bizot in the summer, he claims to be fully up for a move.
“My aim is to go for a transfer next summer. See if I can take a step up, maybe to another league. If you are competing at the top and have good stats, it increases the chances of a nice transfer.”
At the start of the month, the Dutch media had already written why Nottingham Forest failed to sign Bizot. It was claimed that the player was not for sale ‘at any price’, and by making their move so late in the window, the chances got even smaller.
That’s why the Tricky Trees had to go for other targets, and ended up signing Matz Sels from Strasbourg, and even though Bizot wants a move in the summer, it now sounds very unlikely Nottingham Forest will be making a new attempt.
