January has been relatively uneventful for Liverpool. Normally, this is a time for signings. In the last few windows, we as fans have definitely become accustomed to some last-minute dramas and unexpected arrivals.
But this month the most exciting pieces of news were players being recalled from loan spells and then being sent out on loan again. Such as Fabio Carvalho who went from RB Leipzig to Hull City. And Owen Beck, who in a more round-about way went from Dundee, to Liverpool and Dundee again.
But if the latest reports are to be believed, there may have been more excitement and drama for Liverpool. With one 25-year-old, who has been described by Jurgen Klopp as ‘exceptional’ recently reportedly being on Nottingham Forest’s radars.
Caoimhin Kelleher transfer latest
According to a report from The Athletic’s Daniel Taylor Nottingham Forest were interested in signing Caoimhin Kelleher this month. Forest are believed to be seeking out a potential new goalkeeper, and the report states Kelleher was a target for the club.
However, it seems Liverpool were reluctant to let him go. The club are still fighting on all fronts this season, and Kelleher is an important back-up to Alisson Becker. Right now behind him Liverpool’s third choice goalkeeper options aren’t exactly ones that fill you with confidence.
So it makes sense why the club decided to keep Kelleher at Anfield. He is simply too important to lose right now, and bringing in a second choice keeper under the current circumstances in an already difficult market would have been very difficult.
