Nottingham Forest transfer news: Real Zaragoza youngster on radar ahead of January window?

Nottingham Forest have reportedly identified Real Zaragoza youngster Adrian Liso as a potential January transfer target.

Unlike in their first two seasons back in the Premier League, there is a more settled feel to Forest as they bid for an improved campaign.

Nuno Espirito Santo was able to strengthen his squad in a number of areas during the summer, the subsequent outgoings leaving a balanced set of options.

Forest have since responded by accumulating five points from their opening three top-flight fixtures against Bournemouth, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively.

Despite focus being placed on moving up the Premier League table, club officials are also eager to attract prospects to the City Ground, as they did with St Pauli teenager Eric da Silva Moreira.

Interest taken in Spanish starlet

According to El Periodico Aragon, Forest are toying with going all out for the signature of Liso at the turn of the year.

With Real Zaragoza competing in the Segunda Division, the winger does not have an outing in La Liga or a Spain youth side under his belt.

Nevertheless, the 19-year-old has seemingly started to attract admirers through his appearances at the second tier of Spanish football.

Liso has completed the 90 minutes in each of Real Zaragoza’s opening four matches in 2024-25, chipping in with one assist in helping his side top the standings with 10 points from four matches.

Forest prepared to pay release clause?

With scouts having been present at the last two matches, Forest are allegedly open to the possibility of paying a €15m (£12.65m) release clause.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to have been interested in the past, it unclear whether that is still the case.

While there may be temptation to make the switch to English football, Liso possesses a contract at Zaragoza that runs until 2029.

A situation could theoretically arise where the playmaker signs for Forest and is loaned out to Olympiacos, who are also owned Evangelos Marinakis.

During the most recent transfer window, Forest signed David Carmo and Marko Stamenic before sending them to the Europa Conference League champions.
