Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of former Charlton Athletic midfielder Kate Longhurst on a free transfer.
The Tricky Trees announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.
Longhurst joins Nottingham Forest after leaving former club Charlton Athletic at the end of last season. She has signed a one-year deal at The City Ground.
The 35-year-old midfielder is a real coup for the third tier side. Longhurst has twice won the Barclays Women’s Super League title during her time at Liverpool. The player has also turned out for the likes of Chelsea and West Ham United in the past. She was an Adobe Women’s FA Cup runner-up with both clubs.
Last season at Charlton Athletic, Longhurst made 20 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she scored two goals. The midfielder very nearly helped The Addicks to the league title; the South East Londoners were beaten to pole position by eventual champions Crystal Palace on the final day.
After joining Nottingham Forest, Longhurst said “It’s really exciting being at the start of an adventure when the team is turning professional with the plans that the Club have in place. To be one of the first players to join since the news, with the players already here, I’m excited to get started
Nottingham Forest have now signed six new players this summer. The club will be aiming to win promotion to the Barclays Women’s Championship in 2024/2025.
