Nottingham Forest offer £13m-rated Olympics star more per week than he currently earns in a month

Nottingham Forest are accelerating in their attempt to complete a transfer for a player currently starring at the Olympic Games in Paris.

The Reds are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to sign new players and perhaps more crucially there is a new strategy seemingly in place.

Forest have targeted younger players with more athleticism this summer and it’s actually been a refreshing change from a fan perspective.

All of the players signed are players with potential who boast significant resale value should they leave the City Ground in the future.

It would appear as though the recruitment net has now been cast towards Paris and an Olympics star might be the next player checking in.

Nottingham Forest make offer to Bradley Locko

A new left-back is firmly on the radar of Forest and now the £13m-rated Locko looks to be in the sights of Forest.

According to L’Equipe journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter, the Reds are accelerating with the deal – and some details of the offer made to the player have been revealed.

It’s claimed that Forest have offered a wage that would see Locko earn as much in a week than he does in a month with Brest.

That means that Forest have made an offer of around £35,000-a-week to Locko and in the grand scheme of things that doesn’t feel like too much.

The £9,000-a-week player was instrumental last season as Brest defied the odds to qualify for the Champions League with a third-place finish in Ligue 1.

Locko registered three assists from 35 appearances and was the regular left-back in a team with one of the best defences in the French top flight.

Locko fits Forest profile just nicely

Although he would arrive at Forest as a relative unknown, the signing of Locko does look like one that fits in nicely with the current recruitment strategy.

Clearly, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is sick of wasting money on players only keen to line their pockets in one last big money move.

Instead, he’s now placed recruitment figures in place to sign players who can add buckets of energy and also provide resale value should they be sold down the line.

Locko has played further forward for Brest but he’s primarily a left-back and that’s where Forest would surely view him playing next season.

Locko is only 22-years-old and with top-flight experience – albeit in a different country – to his name, he should be capable of making an impact.

First, the player has a gold medal match to look forward to at the Olympics but it does feel as though Forest are keen to get this one done.
