Nottingham Forest are still in the market for new players and in large the players linked with moves to the club have excited the fan base.
However, that has changed this afternoon.
Very few links have been met with such negativity this summer and that has made a refreshing change when scrolling through the social media platforms.
Now, however, it would appear that Forest are going to try and make a move that wouldn’t be overly popular with a lot of supporters.
Nottingham Forest make bid to re-sign loan player
Well, this is a somewhat bizarre link and it’s been some time coming this summer but this is one that doesn’t make a deal of sense.
According to TyC Sports journalist, Gaston Edul, Forest are now going to submit an offer to sign Gonzalo Montiel on a permanent basis.
The man who has won the World Cup and Copa America with Argentina is in limbo at the moment and is desperate for a move away from Sevilla.
Montiel is wanted off of the balance sheet with his current club and their desire to sell could allow him to move on the cheap this summer.
However, his time at Forest saw him blow hot and cold, with fan perception of this particular piece of news pretty negative.
At 27 the player is at a decent age and if the price is right perhaps this wouldn’t be the worst deal in the world.
Montiel played in big wins over Newcastle and Manchester United last season but he did fail to truly win over Nuno Espirito Santo.
