Exclusive: Forest hope to finalise a deal later this week, before their league meeting with Wolves at the City Ground on Saturday
Nottingham Forest are targeting the signing of a new striker before Friday’s transfer deadline with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush emerging as a potential option.
Forest have made a move for the Egypt international and are battling to complete a £20m package as they intensify their search for a striker.
Nuno Espirito Santo has prioritised a new forward and has experienced frustration in the pursuit of Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez.
Marmoush, 25, has now emerged as a serious target with Forest in advanced negotiations with Eintracht over a potential deal.
Last season Marmoush scored 17 goals in all competitions for the Bundesliga club, including four in Europe.
Forest hope to finalise a deal later this week, before their league meeting with Wolves at the City Ground on Saturday. Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.
There will also be exits this week, with Emmanuel Dennis, Matt Turner, Josh Bowler and Ui-Jo Hwang free to depart either on loan or permanently.
Bowler has interest from a number of Championship clubs including Preston.
After Forest’s win at Southampton on Saturday, head coach Nuno Espirito Santo admitted this final week of the transfer window is expected to be lively.
He said: “There are so many things going on in the transfer window – surprise moves from all the teams.
“All the clubs in the Premier League are looking at these final days to get the final details right. As long as we are the same, I will be OK. But let’s see what happens.”
