Michael Olise is heading to Bayern Munich despite interest from top Premier League sides.
Newcastle United are reportedly discussing two winger alternatives after missing out on Michael Olise. The Crystal Palace star is bound for Bayern Munich in a £51million deal, which has left the Magpies scrambling to pursue other options.
Olise spent a huge chunk of last season out injured but still managed to squeeze 16 Premier League goal contributions into only 19 appearances. At only 22 years old, the wide man is viewed as a major prospect for the future.
But with Bayern reaching an agreement with Palace and the player, that future – in the short-term at least – is set to play out in the Bundesliga. According to The Athletic, Newcastle have discussed pursuing Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville as alternatives.
Bowen coasted into Gareth Southgate’s England squad and came off the bench in both of the nation’s first two Euro 2024 matches, despite intense competition from the likes of Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon and Eberechi Eze for minutes out wide.
With 16 goals last term, Bowen tied West Ham’s all-time Premier League record with club legend Paolo Di Canio. Being such an established player domestically and on the international stage means his signature will come at a price.
Bowen signed for the Hammers four and a half years ago in an initial £18m deal, and the east London club would demand a fee several times that size if Newcastle come calling this summer.
