Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi, is savouring the return of his club, Leicester City into the English Premier League (EPL) after a turbulent season at the Championship.
The former EPL and FA Cup champions won the Championship title after through rigours of 46 games in the lower division of English football.
Ndidi, who was speaking with Sporting Tribune in Abuja, said the team knew what is at stake when they go relegated last football season and had to work together as a unit to make sure that the club return to the top flight in England.
“It’s really good to be back in the Premiership. But to be honest with you, the Championship was really hard, really difficult but kudos to the team. We stick together. We fought together and we are back. It’s amazing.
“We know how we felt like last year when we actually got relegated and emotions were down. So struggling back to the Premier League is something actually that we don’t want to go back again. I think the moral is high (now), the expectation is high but we all lived up to expectations to do our things and just keep on doing what we know how to do.”
Speaking about leaving Leicester for the likes of Barcelona, Tottenham and other clubs he was linked to when they got relegated, Ndidi said “For me, I don’t know yet. I don’t know what will happen in the future but I’m actually still trying to do my best. When it comes to moving to next club, I don’t really put my mind into it.
“I just try to stay focused and whatever comes is fine. If Leicester want me to stay which is important, it is really very good but I still want to wait,” he said.
