Michy Batshuayi Told Rangers Transfer Is His For The Taking As Fenerbahce Chief Makes Statement

The striker has emerged as a target for the Ibrox side as they look to bolster their frontline.

Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has told Michy Batshuayi that a decision on his future is in his own hands amid speculation over a move to Rangers.

But reports in Turkey claim that the Istanbul giants could trigger a one-year contract extension – even if he is shipped out on loan to Ibrox this month. Philippe Clement is looking to bolster his attacking options in this window having already brought Fabio Silva in on loan from Wolves as the Belgian looks to put his own stamp on the Scottish Premiership squad.

Abdallah Sima is away on African Cup of Nations duty with Senegal and Cyriel Dessers has been placed on standby for Nigeria, while flop Sam Lammers is inching closer to a move to Utrecht after an ill-fated six-month spell since arriving from Atalanta. Reports suggest that former Chelsea star Batshuayi is set for talks with the Light Blues – with English Premier League Everton also tracking the attacker.

And club supremo Koc has already told Batshuayi he must make his decision this month, having been relegated to the fringes of Ismail Kartal’s squad alongside the likes of Ryan Kent. He told En Son Haber: “I have told him If you want to stay, there is a place for you in Fenerbahce. But if you are restless when you are on the bench, it will affect the team. Let us know your final decision as soon as possible.”

The 30-year-old has failed to agree a new deal with the Turkish giants and is looking to book his spot in Belgium’s Euro 2024 squad. But reports in Turkey suggest that the one-time £33million man will only be allowed to leave on loan as the club weigh up whether to trigger a one-year extension.
