Memphis Grizzlies Sign Former Phoenix Suns Player

It was announced by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday that the Memphis Grizzlies are signing Jordan Goodwin to a 10-day contract. Goodwin was recently traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Brooklyn Nets in the three-team deal that landed Royce O’Neale on Phoenix, but was quickly waived by Brooklyn.

Memphis has used this frustrating season as an opportunity to get looks at different players they would have otherwise never had room for. This is one of the small silver linings in a season that has otherwise been a disaster for Memphis. Injuries have opened up opportunities for the Grizzlies to take a look at several different players, a few of which could have the opportunity to stick on the roster beyond this season.

For Goodwin, this 10-day is an opportunity to show what he can do. Playing in 40 games off the bench for the Suns this season, Goodwin averaged 14 minutes per game in Phoenix, putting up five points per game in those minutes.

A 6’3″ guard, Goodwin could have an opportunity for some backcourt minutes while Memphis awaits the return of several rotation guards. Whether or not Goodwin sticks in Memphis beyond these 10 days remains to be seen, but for now he has an opportunity to show another organization what he is capable of at the NBA level.
