Man Utd have already decided to let three players leave next summer – and two could go earlier

Erik ten Hag was able to clear out some deadwood from Manchester United this summer, including Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Mason Greenwood, Aaron Wan-Bissaka – and more could join them next year.

Manchester United have decided they will let three players leave when their contracts expire next summer – Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans.

Erik ten Hag finished the summer transfer window with five senior signings as he brought in defenders Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro and Mattijs de Ligt, as well as midfielder Manuel Ugarte and forward Joshua Zirkzee.

The Dutchman was also able to clear out some deadwood as some unwanted stars on big salaries made their way out of Old Trafford, including Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Mason Greenwood, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay.

But there could be a few more players who could move on at the end of the season, according to Metro, who claim that Eriksen and Lindelof have already had the decision over their futures taken out of their hands.

The pair could even be offloaded in the January transfer window if the club receive any attractive offers, the report goes on, with it being “certain” that both players are in their final months at Old Trafford.

It also says that veteran defender Evans is unlikely to be offered new terms next season, with the trio set to leave the club as free agents at the end of the 2024-25 campaign

Taboola

Eriksen – who joined United on a free transfer in 2022 – has only played four minutes of action for the Red Devils this season after coming on as a late sub in the 3-0 home loss to Liverpool before the international break. The Danish playmaker has played a total of 73 times for the club, scoring three goals.

Evans, meanwhile, has played just nine minutes in the opening day 1-0 win over Fulham, with Lindelof – who has 259 appearances for United – not featuring at all under Ten Hag this season, spelling trouble for his future and prospect of playing time this term.

The report also says that Harry Maguire’s future is unclear, with his contract also set to expire at the end of the season, despite starting two of United’s first three games of the season.
