Former five-star prospect Sean Stewart has entered the transfer portal, electing to leave Duke after one season in Durham. Stewart didn’t have much opportunity under head coach John Scheyer, averaging 2.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in 8.4 minutes. The move from the Blue Devils is likely based on finding a better role to flourish for Stewart.
His departure from the program marks the seventh Duke player that has entered the portal this offseason, including multiple blue-chip prospects. The Blue Devils pushed their way toward the Elite 8 in 2024 but were unable to take down the freight train of the NC State Wolfpack.
There could be a sense of panic for Duke fans, but after diving into next season’s roster, the Blue Devils will be just fine. They’re welcoming the No. 1 class in the nation, headed by star forward Cooper Flagg.
While the 2024 Blue Devils made their mark in March Madness, Scheyer continues to add and subtract to make the best roster that fits his scheme.
