Liverpool have received a boost in their pursuit of Alexander Isak as they are set to take their summer sales to more than £190m with an exit for Darwin Nunez agreed..

Liverpool are set to take their summer sales to £190m as Darwin Nunez edges closer to an exit.

Nunez, 26, is set to move to the Saudi Pro League with Liverpool reaching an agreement with Al-Hilal to the tune of €53million (£46.3). According to The Times, Liverpool will look to reinvest that money into their forward line.

Arne Slot’s side have been tracking Alexander Isak this summer, with the Newcastle outcast training alone upon his return to the North East. However, it would take a British record fee to coax him to the River Mersey.

The Reds have already seen their initial approach of £110million for Isak rebuffed by Newcastle. And current reports suggest they aren’t prepared to make a second offer, with the Magpies valuing him at around £150million.

The Uruguayan was highly-rated when he moved from Benfica to Liverpool for an initial fee of £64million back in the summer of 2022.

However, he has struggled to live up the potential he promised in Portugal and has scored 40 goals in 143 appearances – and only started eight Premier League games during Liverpool’s title-winning campaign last season.

Liverpool have spent around £300m so far this summer transfer window on Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman – meaning their net spend is now just shy of £110m.
