Liverpool 3-0 Brentford: Live Scores, Statistics, Remarks, And Ratings

🏁 And now, with the final whistle, Liverpool has defeated Brentford 3-0!

Despite playing a very good first half, the Reds could only muster one goal. Salah put the ball past Flekken after Nunez deftly slid through him.

In the midst of the first half, Darwin was denied two goals that were ruled to be offside, the first of which was extremely close.

When Tsimikas crossed the ball, Salah headed it into the net to double the Reds’ lead one hour later. Since it was unclear if the ball had left the play before Tsimikas crossed it, the goal was reviewed using VAR, but in the end, it was upheld.

Jota drilled the ball into the far corner in the 74th minute to give the Reds a three-goal cushion.

🔄94′ McConnell makes his Prem debut, replacing Szoboszlai.

90′ Six minutes added.

🔄90′ Quansah gets a few minutes as he replaces Trent.

89′ Wow, would have been a great goal by Szoboszlai who hits it first-time from outside the box. But Flekken makes a save.

🔄 83′ Elliott and Diaz on for Gakpo and Jota.

78′ Alisson makes several saves in short time span as Van Dijk clears the ball off the line.

⚽ 74′ JOTAAAAA! Such a lovely finish from the Portugal striker. Receives the ball from Tsimikas on the left side of the box, runs inside drops his shoulder and puts the ball into the far corner.

Lovely picture of Thomas Frank giving a Brentford substitute some instructions. Six defenders or what?

68′ What a ball from Van Dijk, sets up Salah nicely with a diagonal pass. Then Flekken claims Mo’s cross.

The goal counts!!! The ball didn’t go out of play when Tsimikas crossed it, VAR decides.

⚽62′ SALAH AT THE DOUBLE!!!! But a VAR check is on as Salah doesn’t even celebrate. Jota plays Tsimikas through, the Greek manages to cross the ball as it was running away and Salah heads the ball into the net.

60′ Lovely tackle by Van Dijk on Mbeumo inside the box.

56′ No red for Wataru, a correct decision has been made. No yellow for Endo even as Tierney has actually made a good decision and didn’t even call a foul in the first place, with VAR intervening.

💬 I Believe In Miracles: “If it was a City player, that check would have lasted 10 seconds max. Bet they’re sitting in the box discussing ‘Can we get away with giving a red for this?'”

💬 Oliketchup: “It’s crazy this was even checked for so long. Basically they were going to red card Endo for being quicker to the ball and trying to continue the attack. Wtf but I’m glad the decision went our way for once”

54′ VAR check on Endo as he slides in to win the ball from Norgaard. Funny that Paul Tierney was five yards away but it still requires a lengthy VAR check.

51′ A powerful Jensen free-kick is palmed over for a corner by Ali.

49′ A bit of a scare with Brentford crossing into the six-yard box and then Mbeumo fouls Alisson as the keeper tries to claim the ball.

⚽ 46′ And we’re back underway!

👉 It’s 1-0 at the break, Liverpool lead. Both teams had a lively start to the game, with both sides creating chances and looking dangerous.

Darwin thought that he opened the scoring in the 22th minute after a lovely ball from behind from Szoboszlai but it was ruled offside, with VAR confirming the referee’s decision.

The Uruguyan then scored again, this time with a beautiful overhead kick, but he was offside once again.

Liverpool were increasing the pressure but then Brentford caught the Reds on the break, with Mbeumo going one-on-one with Alisson and the keeper making a magnificent save to deny the forward.

The Reds broke the deadlock in the 39th minute after a beautiful quick combination involving Trent, Darwin and Salah, with Mo getting on the scoresheet with an emphatic finish.

The Egyptian could have doubled the Reds’ lead but he wasted a great chance on a Trent cross in added time.

📊 Half-time ratings

Excellent: Alisson & Darwin 8.

Good: Salah 7; Matip, Van Dijk 6.5.

Could have done better: Trent, Szoboszlai, Gakpo, Jota 5; Endo 4.5; Tsimikas 4.

45+5′ Oh, Salah volleys over. Should have been 2-0 here. A great ball by Trent.

45+2′ Darwin tries his luck from distance, the keeper fails to properly claim the ball and it could have been a dangerous rebound but no Liverpool player was close.

45′ Six minutes added on.

💬 Tom Little: “Salah x Nunez is honestly the best partnership in the Premier League. The perfect combination of Chaos and Composure, Crudeness and Technique. It literally can attack any aspect of an opposition defence It’s not just a one way partnership either, which makes it every more dangerous”

⚽ 39′ MO SALAH!!!!! Matip wins the ball in the middle of the park, Trent plays the ball forward to Nunez, who turns and puts Salah through, with Mo putting the ball past Fleeken.

37′ Matip booked for what looked like a tidy tackle and not even a foul. Joel and Klopp can’t believe it.

🗣 Markrugby23: “What the actual fuck? Tierney should never be allowed to ref us”

🗣 Stupidlybored: “Matip’s strop and the cut to Klopp was peak comedy there icl”

32′ Alisson!!!! WHAT A SAVE!!!! Mbeumo goes one on one after terrible defending by Liverpool and the Brazilian somehow saves it!

31′ Jota can’t quite get to the ball inside the box after a free kick.

❌29′ No goal.

27′ Nunez scores again with an incredible overhead kick after a powerful Van Dijk header is saved. And again it’s offside. VAR check coming…

❌23′ No goal.

💬 Hobbescandles: “They would’ve given that to Man City. 100%.”

💬 Disco Mode: “Offside but pleasantly surprised by Darwin’s composure to finish there.”

22′ Nunez scores but it’s ruled offside… VAR is drawing the lines.

18′ Oh! Trent picks up the loose ball in the Reds’ box but he takes a really poor touch and gifts the ball to Mbeumo, who fortunately fires over.

15′ Lovely combination between Nunez in Salah sees Darwin denied by the keeper from close range. Nice line-breaking pass from Endo.

💬 The Kop Watch: “I sometimes think Trent forgets we’ve actually got midfielders who can pass a ball now, as he’s still just lumping it at every opportunity”

6′ Nunez tests Flekken with a tricky shot from the left side, the keeper puts it out for a corner.

5′ Brentford cause chaos inside the Reds’ box but can’t capitalise on the loose ball.

4′ Gakpo strikes a powerful effort from outside the box but it’s straight at the Brentford goalie.

🗞️ James Pearce says that Konate and Gomez have ‘minor injuries’.

💬 Fans are talking about Konate and squad depth:

Laurie: “Konate didn’t even play against Toulouse, so this is another injury he’s picked up in training? Yeah I can’t lie, that’s worrying.”

CorballyRed: “Absolutely no one can look at our bench and make a reasonable argument to me FSG have invested enough in the squad”

Football Moe: “Elliott is too short for Klopp to trust him. Let’s be real if I’m Elliot today and I see Gakpo playing ahead of me in midfield I’m thinking about my future.”
