Leeds United May Currently Sell A £5 Million Player Before The January Deadline, If Joe Worrall Joins The Whites

New reports emerged on Tuesday that Leeds United are interested in raiding Nottingham Forest to sign City Ground captain Joe Worrall – but such a move will only happen, surely, if as player goes.

Worrall, 27, has starred for Forest in both the Championship and in the Premier League. Captaining his boyhood club to promotion under Steve Cooper and then survival last term. Injury has hit him, this term.

Indeed, it has seen him lose his place in the Forest side of late – with the likes of Murillo, Willy Boly and others preferred by new manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Leeds are showing interest in a move for Worrall.

Reports claim that Leeds can land Worrall for a bargain £6m before Thursday’s deadline. While Leeds need additions in the middle of the defence right now, we do still have four very solid centre-backs.

Pascal Struijk is injured, but Joe Rodon is on fire and Liam Cooper is fit again. Charlie Cresswell seems to be back in and around the squad after being included in the FA Cup draw with Plymouth on Saturday.

Surely Charlie Cresswell leaves if Leeds United sign Joe Worrall

But, Cresswell’s future is in doubt as is captain Cooper, who is out of contract at the end of the season and is attracting interest from Championship clubs. Leeds are said to want a £5m fee for Cresswell.

However, the chances of Cooper leaving mid-season seems unlikely. Struijk and Rodon are staying put. If Leeds are to make a move for Worrall – you would imagine Cresswell would be the one to leave Leeds.

Especially, because Cresswell and Worrall are similar types of players. Rock solid in the air, right-footed, preferring the physicality of the game to the technical aspect. If Worrall comes in, Cresswell surely goes.
