Leeds United Interested For £2.5m Premier League Defender

Leeds United are likely to be in the market for a new right-back after waving goodbye to both Luke Ayling and Djed Spence this month – and Burnley’s Connor Roberts is a target for Daniel Farke.

Ayling completed his exit from Leeds on Wednesday, joining Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season. But, with his contract expiring in the summer, it is expected he has ended his Leeds spell.

Pablo Hernandez was among those to respond to his Leeds exit, as did Willy Gnonto and Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips. Spence, meanwhile, is said to be undergoing a medical at Serie A side Genoa.

Leeds have been linked with a number of right-backs – the likes of Conor Bradley at Liverpool, a player that Jurgen Klopp branded as “wonderful” after his performance last night. Unlikely, he joins Leeds.

Roberts, though, remains a target. The 28-year-old is struggling to start for Vincent Kompany’s side. The £2.5m Burnley man would be the fourth Wales player to be a part of Farke’s side, this season.

Burnley willing to sell Leeds United target Connor Roberts

Alongside Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Dan James. Roberts has huge experience in the second tier, playing 173 times in the Championship and having a hand in 35 goals. His deal at Burnley ends in 2025.

Reports state that Leeds are set to step up interest in Roberts, as well as Chris Mepham, following the exits of both Ayling and Spence. The Mirror (January 11, page 53) share Burnley’s stance on an exit.

They say that Burnley are willing to ‘consider offers’ for Roberts this month. The perfect signing for Leeds, with Roberts also said to be open to joining Leeds in the coming weeks. Suits all parties.
