Lebron James Received Criticism For Downplaying The Influence Miami Had On His Career

LeBron James has come under fire from Stephen A. Smith for saying that he would have been the same player that he is now.

On Tuesday’s most recent First Take episode, Smith chastised LeBron.

“LeBron, what the devil is wrong with you?” Smith queries. “Why the devil do you feel this way? Allow me to share this with you all. How does LeBron James lose in Boston when he travels to Miami?

James Dolan mentioned becoming a billionaire to you. That was ineffective. Other teams are observing him, too. Rolling up, Pat Riley placed rings on the table. Would you like these? Alright, so this is how you obtain them.

Smith is referring to LeBron’s entire remarks, which are as follows:

LeBron stated, “I believe that regardless of whether I came here or not, I would still be at this level.” Don’t misunderstand: My four years here were incredible. I cherished every aspect of it. One of the greatest franchises in the world, I adored this one. It’s top-notch.

In terms of my career, however, I knew how much I put into the game and how much I wanted to be the best version of myself, so that was going to be my career as an individual. However, there’s no doubt that the knowledge I gained from this experience was unparalleled.

Since then, LeBron has made it clear that, regardless of Miami, he still intended for his own skill level to be exceptionally high.

The question of whether he would have won as many championships is a different discussion, and this is where there may be some miscommunication.

James made it very evident to reporters during that same talk that he would need Miami to win championships and that he wouldn’t be able to do so in Cleveland during his first season with the Cavaliers.
